Hall 259 is a former assembly and welding hall (by Nils Centerlöf, 1954) and part of the former Kockums wharf complex in Malmö. The old building will be transformed into a grocery store, parking garage and housing units. Förstberg Ling got invited to a competition by Varvsstaden and subsequently won the assignment to design a new residential volume on top of the hall's large roof.

The stadium shaped plan of the housing development creates an enclosed courtyard, shielded from the windy conditions on the roof, while giving the individual housing units an uninterrupted view over the city. The exterior is partly clad in reused corrugated metal, sourced from the extensive material library from former buildings within the complex.
